Each precedent has been designed in response to environmental and social conditions of the areas they reside in. Through studies of these precedents it was noticed that as a way of designing for the future of suburbia, they incorporate many common aspects.

  • Loop Systems: The loop systems designed within all of the projects are meant to unite the entire design. This allows it to contribute to social, scenic and sustainable impulses.
  • Connection and Community: Each project contains multiple areas/sites within its entirety versus a homogenous approach. The human becomes an active participant of the system, building a relationship with the site.
  • Incorporation of Landscape: Since these projects are located in areas where rainfall is an issue, they respond to the environment through incorporated water management techniques.
  • Proximity: The 4 precedents are also located in areas that are close to main centers and have accessible transit routes. Through this, streets become open places for pedestrian use and the car loses its prominence.
